This is the beautiful smiling face I am blessed to wake up to every morning. In the 4 short months we've had her she has changed my life. She is such a joy & has a very sweet and gentle disposition. She also was severely tongue-tied, lost 16% of her birth weight in the first 10 days of her life, basically couldn't nurse & had her tongue clipped at 1 month of age.
We have been working to get her to gain weight & to nurse exclusively. She is finally down to 6 ounces of formula a day & I still have to pump. It takes a great portion of my day to feed her. She doesn't give a lot of cues to hunger...demanding very little, yet still content.
Soooo all this led to the purchase of 2 little books:
The Breastfeeding Mother's Guide to Making More Milk & Mother Food, which led to the making of my latest healthy, yummy meal.
My children have been the inspiration for me to cook healthy food that tastes good too....it can be done! This beautiful breakfast consisted of oatmeal, pumpkin, maple syrup, pecans, & cinnamon. Several of these foods are supposed to help increase milk supply, which should lead to more of the smiles you see above.
Some other ways we enjoy oats, are by adding one or more of the following:
- grated or diced apple
- peanut butter
- ground flaxseed
- sliced bananas
- walnuts
- raisins
If I'm not careful this will become a food blog as a great deal of my time is spent in planning meals, buying food, making meals & snacks, eating, & cleaning up from meals!
